Qatar Aluminium Ltd, Qatalum, is a 50/50 Joint Venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Hydro. When the plant comes in operation in late 2009 it will be one of the largest and most competitive primary aluminium plants in the world, with a production capacity of 585.000 MT per year. The smelter-, casthouse-, carbon- and power plant will employ between 1100 - 1200 people.
The plant is located in Mesaieed in Qatar, some 40 kilometers from the capital Doha which is growing into a modern business centre and busy air traffic hub for the region.  

Areas of responsibility/Role

• Operation, maintenance & support of process control systems including PLC's & HAL 3000's.
• Operation & maintenance of SCADA systems.
• Process network management.
• PLC operation, maintenance & support.
• Participate in the execution project with dedicated tasks related to IT Automation.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree.
• Solid knowledge of Hydro Aluminium policies and procedures in development and operation of smelters is an advantage.
• Broad experience within the IT Automation area.
• Strong interpersonal- and communication skills. Good cultural awareness.
• Strong analytical skills.
